WORKSHOPS: GETTING THE LOVE YOU WANT
20 hour workshop
This workshop is based mostly on the theory and design of Dr. Harville Hendrix who wrote the international best selling book entitled: Getting The Love You Want. These workshops provide an intense but safe weekend experience for couples that want to learn basic principles about why individuals choose each other, why conflict occurs, and how a communication process called "couples dialogue" can make connection happen. Romantic love leads us into courtship while an inner drive for wholeness and healing moves us through struggle and discord toward individual growth and mutual fulfillment. Achieving the latter requires special knowledge and skills that are taught, demonstrated, and practiced in these workshops.
THE UNIQUE DESIGN of the Getting The Love You Want Workshop is appropriate for you if you and your partner...
- want to experience more loving in your life together
- want to model healthy relationship skills for your children
- are in love and afraid to commit because you’ve seen failure in so many other relationships
- are at the beginning of a committed relationship and want to create a firm foundation for your future
- would like to bring your relationship back from the brink of break-up, or
- have buried your loving and caring beneath conflicts you cannot resolve or struggles you do not understand
THIS WORKSHOP will demonstrate and give you time to practice special skills for connecting across the differences that all partners bring to a committed relationship. This is important because our nature is “wired” for us to develop and grow through our primary relationships – first as children and later as adults. This weekend experience will show you how to finish “growing up” through your relationship. You will leave with experience in basic methods of dialogical communication, an awareness of how to nurture and deepen your friendship, and an understanding of why and how your committed relationship could be your pathway to getting the love you want.
YOUR EXPERIENCE will include lectures, group discussion, written exercises in a manual we provide for you to use during and after the workshop, and opportunities to practice with your partner several dialogue exercises that are demonstrated and/or explained during the weekend. Though you will be invited and encouraged to participate in group discussions or to volunteer for demonstrations, you will never be required to do so. Most or all of your personal sharing will be done privately with your partner. Safety and confidentiality are high priorities in this workshop. Guidance is available throughout the weekend to explain exercises and support you in your work.
Certificates of Attendance (18 CEUs) are provided for many mental health professionals. A fee of $10 is required.
